WIN-BELIZE FEMALE & SENIOR BASKETBALL STANDINGS

In games played this past week in the Win-Belize Female and Senior League, on Friday last in the female circuit, it was Maria Chang Eagles winning by ten over Advance Flames, 56-46. Enid Dakers, in a losing effort, was the game’s top scorer with 20 points, while her teammate, Tanisha Vernon, added 7 points in the loss. For the now 3-0 league leading Eagles, point guard Shirley Codd was the primary scorer, totaling some 18 points, followed by the tandem of Sylvia Clarke and Shelmadine Cacho, each scoring 13 points.
Following their loss on Friday, Advance Flames showed no mercy on the Gwen Liz team on Sunday afternoon as they completely humiliated them by the score of 51-19. Enid Dakers led the Flames’ attack with a game high 16 points, while her teammate Tanisha Vernon totaled 9 points in the win. For Gwen Liz, Tifarrah Swift scored 9 points, followed by Tanisha James with 5 points.
Now for tonight’s female games, it will be the Eagles trying to extend their winning streak to four games when they face the cellar dwelling (0-3) Gwen Liz team.
In the male senior game played last Friday night, it was Tyrone Edwards’ game high 29 points leading Lake I Boyz, as they narrowly edged Reggae Boyz by the score of 94-92. Earl “Bolo” Johnson was the high man for the Reggae Boyz with 22 points.
In the nightcap, Acros Whirlpool handed SJC Wildcats their fourth consecutive loss, defeating them by the score of 92-82. Edward “Thugs” Baptist hit four 3-pointers on his way to 21 points, and was assisted by teammate Paul Swasey, who contributed 18 points. The Wildcats, who appear to be out of their league, were led by Jeremy O’Brien with 20 points and Winston Pratt with 19 points.
On Sunday in the male match-ups, UB Jaguars recorded their third win of the season when they annihilated Ebony Lake by the score of 80-59. Stephen “Muerte” Williams and Ben Terry were huge, each contributing 15 points, while for Ebony Lake it was Densmore Edwards hitting four 3-pointers on his way to 25 points.
In the second game played on Sunday, Acros Whirlpool remained consistent as they downed Lake I Boyz by the score of 80-72. The BTL Nets’ semi-pro duo of Paul Swasey and Kirk “Chengo” Burgess showed no letting up, as they scored 15 points and 14 points, respectively, as they begin to prepare for the upcoming semi-pro season. Eden Serrano was doing likewise as he scored 18 points for the Lake I Boyz in the loss, and teammate Jerome “Penny” Ellis contributed 14 points.
On Wednesday night in male games played, Reggae Boyz jumped out to a 38-24 half time lead over Ebony Lake, winning finally by the score of 80-57. Ronnell Lennan had all his 11 points in the first half of play, and was aided by Jacob Leslie with 12 points.
In the nightcap Lake I Boyz made easy work of SJC Wildcats, defeating them by the score of 82-72. Tyrone “Joker” Edwards led Lake I scoring with 21 points, followed by Jerome “Penny” Ellis with 13 points. For SJC it was Farron Lauriano with 27 points, followed by Winston Pratt with 14 points.
In male matchups tonight at the City Center, the (5-2) Acros Whirlpool should make easy work of the now (1-5) Ebony Lake, while in the nightcap; the (3-2) Reggae Boyz will be looking to extend their winning streak to two games when they face the (3-2) UB Jaguars.
This Sunday in female competition, Advance Flames will try to see if the third time around is the charm when they once again face their nemesis in the Maria Chang Eagles, who have defeated them twice this year already, by an average of 10 points, winning 44-33 on February 9 and 56-46 on February 23.
In the male games, the (3-2) Reggae Boyz will face the (0-5) SJC Wildcats, while the (1-5) Ebony Lake will try for a win against the (5-1) Lake I Boyz.
