Semi-pro: There was no welcome party for the visiting Belmopan Bandits at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence at 7:30 on Saturday night, as home standing Texmar Boys greeted them with a 4-nil shelling and sent them packing back to the Capital City. Ashley Torres got a hat trick with goals at the 7th, 49th and 76th minute. Gilmore Palacio got the other Texmar goal at the 17th minute.
Meanwhile, at the MCC Garden in Belize City, also at 7:30 Saturday night, visiting Alpha Barcelona from Orange Walk gained a hard fought 1-nil victory over Forever Strong Kraal Road on an 83rd minute goal from Harvey Cruz.
In the third Saturday night game, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, Roots F.C. from Belize City battled to a 2-2 stalemate with home team, Barrio Fino. Rupert Smith got both Roots’ goals at the 8th and 31st minute. Barrio Fino’s goals were by Dudley Smith at the 3rd and Cyril Simmons at the 11th minute.
On Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo, the home team Benque D.C. United came from behind to clinch a 2-1 victory over visiting Adventures of Cayo. Brandon Wiltshire put Adventures in front at the 36th minute, but Esvin Carillo equalized at the 58th, and Habib Cano sealed the win for Benque with a penalty kick at the 90th minute.
Amateur: (All games were played at the Marion Jones Sports Complex.) At 1:30 on Saturday afternoon in 1st Division action, Kraal Road F.C . shut out Kelly Street F.C., 3-nil, on goals by Ernest Andrews at the 48th, Leon Cadle at the 52nd, and Tyron Lenarez at the 80th minute.
In the scheduled Masters game, Kulture Yabra won by default over Plaza.
On Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in the 1st Division, Delta Sports came away with the 2-1 win over Southside United. Lyndon Garbutt put Southside in front at the 9th minute, but Wilson Sapata replied for Delta at the 13th, and Carlos Bonilla’s 84th minute goal sealed the victory for Delta Sports.
In the Masters game that followed at 3:30 p.m., Edmund “Buzzard” Pandy’s 60th minute goal for Belmopan was enough to clinch the 1-nil victory over home team Vipor Lake.
